The prefecture's page presents these not as conditions for using the name but as “three shared practices that characterize quality” among the prefecture's pig farmers. “Toyama Pork” is an umbrella name for the local farm brands; the same page says both “six brands” and “nine brands”. The MAFF Hokuriku office's table (P038) defines it as “Landrace × Large Yorkshire × Duroc” with “bamboo vinegar added to the feed”, which differs from the prefecture's description of the feed. JA Zen-Noh Toyama (P062) calls it “an umbrella name for Toyama pork brands”, says the sires are Duroc (some Berkshire), and lists six local brands: Kurobe Meisui, Owara Clean, Takahata, Marchen, Mugiya and Johana Furusato Pork.

About the names
Brand names are proper nouns. English names follow the brand association's official English page first, then the English name in the GI register, and otherwise romanised Japanese plus "Beef", "Wagyu" or "Pork". We never call a non-Wagyu brand Wagyu.
